FastCredit Pro 2.0.37: stability and checkout improvements

FastCredit Pro 2.0.37 is out. It mostly tidies up checkout and the settings screens, and it is the version we recommend everyone runs.

If you have been on an older 2.0.x release for a while (many of you are on 2.0.28), this update also brings in the credit expiry fixes from 2.0.29 to 2.0.34, which are listed at the bottom.

Checkout

  • The Credits payment option now appears only when the whole cart can be paid with credits. On a mixed cart (credit products plus products priced in money) customers see your normal payment methods instead of a credits option that would fail.
  • When an order is placed with credits, FastCredit Pro checks the cart again and shows a clear message if something no longer adds up, such as an empty balance, instead of leaving a half-finished order.
  • Credits now appear as a payment option in the WooCommerce Checkout block as well as on the classic checkout, and the same cart rules apply to both. In the Checkout block, the order summary still shows prices in your store currency rather than in credits. Showing credits there is coming in the next update.
  • On stores that only sell in credits, customers who don’t have enough credits now see a Buy Credits option at checkout.
  • A declined credits payment no longer leaves a pending order behind.
  • Guests can still check out with your normal payment methods. Paying with credits, or buying credits, needs a customer account, because the credits have to be stored somewhere.

Instant buy

  • The instant buy button now refuses quantities that are not whole numbers of 1 or more, and tells the customer why, instead of quietly changing the number.
  • After an instant buy the customer goes back to the product page if the return address you set is not on your own site.
  • Error messages stay on the page that handled the purchase, so they no longer pop up later on an unrelated page.

Settings screens

  • If a settings save does not go through, the spinner stops and you see “Please reload the page and try again.” Before, it could spin forever.
  • Plugin scripts and styles now carry their file date as a version number, so browsers load the new files straight after an update rather than an old cached copy.
  • The script for variable products loads with the correct settings.

Tested with

WordPress 7.1 and WooCommerce 11.2. FastCredit Pro still needs PHP 7.4 or later.

Also included if you are updating from 2.0.28 or earlier

  • Credit expiry now finds every order with expiring credits, including older ones. Before 2.0.33 it only looked at recent orders, so expiry rarely ran on busy stores.
  • Expiry applies to completed and processing orders from the last 180 days. Developers can change that with the fwc_credit_expiry_cutoff_days filter.
  • Credit expiry set on individual variations is now read correctly.
  • Scheduled tasks re-register themselves if they go missing after a plugin update.
  • PHP 8 “undefined array key” warnings are gone.

How to update

Go to Plugins in your WordPress dashboard and click “Update now” under FastCredit Pro. If you do not see the update, check that your licence is active under FastCredit Pro > Account. As with any update, take a backup first and test a credit purchase afterwards.

If you are still on version 1.x (Fast WooCredit Pro), follow the version 2 upgrade guide first.
